Thermal modification improves durability and dimensional stability. It does not remove the need for correct exterior detailing, installation, drainage, ventilation, and maintenance.

Installers can orient the reversible profile to present either a traditional V-Joint or a narrower Nickel-Joint reveal. Confirm the intended face, fastening, wall assembly, and current installation instructions before work begins.

What the treatment changes

Dimensional stability
The treatment reduces the wood's tendency to absorb moisture, improving stability as exterior conditions change.
Installation choice
One reversible tongue-and-groove board provides a V-Joint face on one side and a Nickel-Joint face on the other.
Factory preparation
Oil is applied on all sides at the factory. The surface will still weather, and periodic maintenance is required to retain its original color.
Oil, weathering, and maintenance
The factory-applied oil reduces initial field preparation, but exterior exposure will change the surface over time. Sunlight and weather can fade the oil and move the wood toward a silver-grey patina.
Periodic cleaning and re-oiling are required to retain the original brown color. Follow the current manufacturer maintenance guidance and test compatible products in an inconspicuous area.
Factory oil does not provide permanent color retention.
